Programme Overview
The Supervision Strategies for Special Needs Learners programme is designed to equip educators, instructional leaders, and school supervisors with advanced knowledge and practical skills to effectively support learners with special educational needs in inclusive and specialized settings. Grounded in contemporary frameworks such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), the programme emphasizes ethical leadership, collaborative problem-solving, data-informed decision-making, and culturally responsive supervision.
The curriculum consists of three core courses:
-
Behavior Management and Positive Intervention – Focuses on functional behavior assessment, positive behavior support systems, and proactive classroom management strategies to foster safe and inclusive learning environments.
-
Instructional Strategies for Special Needs Learners – Explores differentiated instruction, individualized education planning, assistive technologies, and evidence-based pedagogical approaches tailored to learners with disabilities.
-
Disabilities and Diverse Learners – Examines categories of disabilities, learner variability, inclusive education policies, and culturally responsive practices for diverse populations.
